Yul Edochie Fires Back at Critics Amid Judy Austin Controversy

Date:

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has fired back at his critics amid renewed controversy involving his wife, actress Judy Austin, and her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi. The actor shared a defiant message on social media on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026.

What Yul Edochie said

In the post, Edochie said years of criticism had failed to shake him, insisting that no mortal or spirit could bring him down. “My aura gives my enemies sleepless nights,” he wrote, dismissing what he described as a coordinated attempt to damage his image.

He addressed the claim that he had taken another man’s wife, arguing that Obasi left his marriage years ago, remarried and moved on, only to resurface after Judy became successful. Edochie went on to describe himself in triumphant terms, attributing his resilience to faith and the continued support of his fans.

How the dispute started

The renewed attention followed Obasi’s appearance on a podcast on June 15, where he said he and Judy were previously married and had children together before their relationship ended. His account reignited public debate around the couple’s history.

Clips from the podcast circulated widely, prompting commentary from fans and fellow entertainers alike. Obasi also spoke about wanting access to his children, an issue the parties have since characterised very differently.

Judy Austin’s response

Judy Austin defended Edochie in a video response, saying she met the actor three years after her marriage had already ended. She praised him for supporting her children despite not being their biological father, and indicated she was prepared to address the matter through legal channels.

She also appealed to social media users to stop directing insults at her husband, framing the attacks as unfair. Her video, which spread quickly online, sought to push back firmly on suggestions that Edochie had acted wrongly.

A public back-and-forth

The exchange has played out largely online, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians following the story. As with many high-profile celebrity disputes, observers have been divided over the competing accounts, and the story is the latest chapter in a relationship that has drawn steady public attention over the past few years.

For now, all parties appear to be standing their ground, and it remains unclear whether the matter will move beyond social media. Viorah TV will continue to report developments factually as they emerge.
