Beşiktaş are reportedly ready to sanction a Wilfred Ndidi transfer this summer, with the Turkish club willing to sell the Super Eagles captain for a fee in excess of €10m. The move would come barely a year after they signed the midfielder from Leicester City.

A quick about-turn in Istanbul
Ndidi joined Beşiktaş in August 2025 for around €8m and impressed in his debut campaign, making 31 appearances across all competitions and quickly becoming a regular starter. However, following a disappointing season, the club parted ways with coach Sergen Yalçın and appointed Vincenzo Italiano.
Italiano has reportedly left the 29-year-old out of his plans for the 2026/27 season, with the club said to be lining up a new defensive midfielder. That has cast sudden doubt over a player who was one of the team’s most reliable performers only months ago.
A potential profit
By demanding more than €10m, Beşiktaş stand to turn a profit on their original outlay, with some reports suggesting they could hold out for as much as €15m given his market value. Ndidi remains under contract until June 2028, giving the club a strong negotiating position.
A decade in Europe
Ndidi is no stranger to the European stage. He began his career with Belgian side Genk in 2015 before joining Leicester City in 2017, where he spent the better part of eight years and made more than 200 Premier League appearances. His time at the King Power Stadium ended after the club’s relegation in the 2024/25 season.
Premier League return or Saudi switch?
Manchester United have been among the clubs most frequently linked with Ndidi, with interest first surfacing during his Leicester days. Ajax and several Saudi Pro League sides are also said to be monitoring his situation. Having spent so long in England, a Premier League return is widely considered the most likely destination.
Reports earlier in the year suggested United were offered the chance to sign him, underlining that his name still circulates among top-flight recruiters.
What it means for the Super Eagles
For Nigeria, Ndidi’s next move matters. As captain and a defensive anchor with more than 70 caps, his club situation affects his rhythm heading into a busy international period. A transfer that keeps him playing regularly at a high level would suit both player and country as the Super Eagles look to rebuild momentum.
During his Premier League years, Ndidi was regarded as one of the division’s most effective ball-winners, a reputation that has kept him on the radar of several leading clubs.
Whatever he decides, a swift resolution would benefit all parties, allowing the midfielder to settle before the new season and giving Beşiktaş clarity as they rebuild their squad.
