Portable, Charles Okocha Boxing Rematch Set for July 31

Date:

The Portable Charles Okocha boxing rematch is officially set for July 31, 2026, dragging one of Nigeria’s loudest celebrity feuds back into the ring.

Boxing ring ahead of the Portable Charles Okocha boxing rematch in Lagos

Singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly called Portable, and Nollywood actor Charles Okocha will face off at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Promoters say the bout, themed “Unfinished Business”, is the headline celebrity attraction of a wider fight night.

Three years in the making

The two entertainers first met in the ring in 2023, a contest Portable won. That result left the actor eager for a second chance.

This rematch revives a rivalry fans have tracked for years, mixing showbiz drama with the promise of a real scrap. Balmoral Group Promotions confirmed the date and venue, positioning the fight as Okocha’s shot at revenge.

The first encounter ended in dramatic fashion, with Portable celebrating wildly afterwards. Supporters expect similar theatrics this time around.

How the feud started

The bad blood dates to 2023. Portable accused his rival of failing to honour a financial agreement linked to a brand deal, saying he was owed N20 million.

The actor pushed back on that account. What began as an online quarrel hardened into a personal grudge neither man wanted to drop.

Rather than let lawyers settle it, the pair agreed to trade blows in a sanctioned celebrity bout. The ring, not the courtroom, became their preferred battleground.

What is on the fight card

The July 31 event is built around several fights. A featherweight rematch between Taiwo “Esehpo” Agbaje and Tope “TP Rock” Musa anchors the undercard.

Organisers are selling the night as a blend of celebrity spectacle and competitive boxing, a formula that has filled Lagos venues before. They have also promised tighter crowd control after rowdy scenes at past celebrity bouts.

Why the rematch matters

Celebrity boxing has grown into a dependable money-spinner in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. It fuses music, comedy and sport into one ticketed evening.

For Portable, the fight is another headline in a career built on viral moments and constant controversy. He remains one of the most talked-about figures in Afrobeats.

For Okocha, popularly known as “Igwe 2Pac”, the contest is a chance to erase the memory of his first defeat. Both men have spent the build-up trading insults online, keeping the rematch trending well before fight night.

A second win would hand Portable lasting bragging rights. A loss would level their personal score and reset the rivalry. Either way, organisers expect a packed house in Victoria Island and days of social media coverage for both stars.
